The hype is real, as preparations are underway for the VP Game Pro League grand finals taking place in Hangzhou, China. The two Chinese powerhouses ViCi Gaming and LGD will battle it off in a best of five series, to take home the first place prize and championship title.
With LAN tournaments in China being infrequent, the prize pool being a significant $24,500 and these two teams having a 2:2 record verses each other recently, the excitement and tension has been high going into the finals. LGD defeated VG on April 16th 2:0, dropping VG into the lower brackets to face TongFu, beating them 2:0 in order to rise back into the upper brackets and grand finals to try to redeem themselves and unleash some revenge on LGD.
The stakes are high as the top Chinese teams are trying to prove themselves for the upcoming The International 5 invites and qualifiers, further fueling the rivalry and intensity in their game play.
ViCi Gaming
ViCi Gaming secured their position at D2CL LAN finals by defeating IG 3-0. They have received direct invite to ESL One in Frankfurt Germany and will attend The Summit 3 in LA as the defending champions from last season. On March 10 they made a roster change and “Hao” Chen Zhihao joined team.
Being invited directly to the playoff stage of VPGame Pro League, the team started on course for the finals strong. VG took out E-Home in first round 2-0 and IG in upper bracket semi finals 2-0 before losing to LGD in upper bracket finals, forcing them to drop to the lower bracket finals. In the lower bracket finals they faced TongFu, eliminating their opponents in a 2-0 sweep and giving themselves another chance for the final victory.

LGD
LGD qualified for The Summit 3 in LA and was invited as one of four teams to qualify for the Red Bull Battle Grounds. On March 15th the team confirmed their full new roster: “Maybe” Lu Yao and “xiao8” Zhang Ning, along with “Mikasa” as their coach.
Being invited directly to the playoff stage of VPGame Pro League, the team went through to the finals undefeated. They swept through TongFu 2-0 in the first round, CDECin the upper bracket semi finals and then VG in the upper bracket finals.

Upper Bracket Finals
The two rivals faced off on April 16th in the Upper Bracket Finals, with LGD dominating the series 2-0, which started by securing first blood in game 1 and would continue to set the pace for the series.
The LAN Final between LGD Gaming and ViCi Gaming will begin tomorrow at 07:00CEST, April 19th. With a 1st place prize of $13,000 and title championship at stake, VG and LGD will compete in a best-of-five series.
