The second round of the Kiev Major CIS Open Qualifiers has come to an end. Hive has landed the last Kiev Major CIS Regional Qualifiers available spot, after defeating Cali Gari 2:1, in the finals. The Kiev Major CIS Regional Qualifiers starts Friday, March 10th.

Hive – is team consisting of Bogdan ‘Iceberg’ Vasilenko’s younger brother and well known regional player Yaroslav ‘Pikachu’ Vasilenko, Eugeniy “Fervian” Aksenov and familiar CIS face- Peter ‘Sm1Leyu’ Banah.
The team went through ro16 in the first set but were unable to advance further after being knocked out by Zero One.
The CIS squad took on the competition this time with force and barreled through all of the single match games before sweeping through Hala Ares 2:0 and then Cali Gari 2:1.
Hive will go up against Vega Squadron, Team Empire, Virtus.Pro, FRIENDS, Na’vi, Team Spirit, Effect and Double Dimension in the Kiev Major CIS Regional Qualifiers, scheduled to take place between March 10-12.
The Kiev Major will be held in Kiev, Ukraine, between April 27-30th, at National Palace of Arts, with a set $3,000,000 prize pool. Sixteen teams will compete at the main event hosted by PGL.

Kiev Major Open Qualifiers
Much like for the previous year’s Majors, there will be two opportunities for teams to compete in the Open Qualifiers for the Kiev Major. Two rounds of Open Qualifier will be hosted: the first Open Qualifier will take place on the 6th and 7th of March, while the second Open Qualifier will follow on the 8th and 9th of March. Teams are able to register and participate in both sets of events.
Kiev Major Regional Qualifiers
The Kiev Major CIS Regional Qualifiers are being held on site starting on Friday, March 10th at 11:00 CET.
There will be two phases to the Kiev Major Qualifiers format – group and playoffs.
Group Phase
- One group
- Round-Robin
- Best-of-one matches
- 1 point for wins
- 0 points for loss
- Teams placed 1-4 move to playoffs
Tiebreakers: If there is tie between 4th and 5th position a tiebreaker match will be played. For ties between all other positions winner is determined based on head-to-head results.
Playoff Phase
- 1st place team chooses 3rd or 4th place team as opponent
- 2nd place team competes against remaining team
- GSL bracket format
- Best of three series
- Two teams advance to Kiev Major
