Amid the cool fall temperatures and the bustling of Canada’s cultural juggernaut – Dota 2 packed an international punch to break in Canada’s introduction to Dota LAN events – Northern Arena BEAT Invitational.
After the first round of matches with all eight teams battling it out in best-of-three series, the upper and lower brackets started to take form.
Ad Finem, FDL, compLexity Gaming and Alliance had dropped to the brutal best-of-one survival mode phase, while the big forces of Wings Gaming and Evil Geniuses were joined by EHOME and Team NP in the upper brackets.
Two North American teams were the first to drop out, compLexity fell at the hands of Alliance while the all Greek squad knocked out FDL. Neither team lasted much longer however, as Team NP and Evil Geniuses were sent to the low road to defend against the invading Europeans and prevailed.
The upper brackets had then become a battle for China – EHOME and Wings Gaming locking horns for an exciting three game series. Not unexpected, Wings Gaming triumphed and became the first team to advance to the Grand finals.
The North American battle in the lower brackets – was an intense one game match. Team NP would overpower Evil Geniuses – an impressive feat for the newly formed team. With one more series separating them from the grand finals – Jacky “Eternal Envy” Mao and company squared off against EHOME.
In a 2:1 victory, Team NP reigned supreme to represent Canada on the main stage in front of the home crowd.
The grand finals between Wings Gaming and Team NP will take place at 15:00 ET/21:00 CEST, Sunday November 13th HERE.
