Top regional stacks – Fire and is GG come out ahead in Kiev Major NA Open Qualifiers

The second round of the Kiev Major NA Open Qualifiers has come to an end. Fire and is GG have landed the last Kiev Major NA Regional Qualifiers available spot, after coming out on top in the brackets. The Kiev Major NA Regional Qualifiers starts Friday, March 10th.

The last two teams from the Kiev Major NA Open Qualifiers have been determined.

Brian “FLUFFNSTUFF” Lee’s reincarnation of Team Fire and mix stack is GG including Kim “QO” Seon-yeop, Jio “Jeyo” Madayag and Stanley “Stan King” Yang have made the cut.

Both teams are comprised of well known players in the region with plenty of experience to give their opponents a run for their money.

The region has only seven teams total participating – compared to the ten teams competing in the other 5 regions. After WanteD and Team Red dropped, only three teams were left as invited in the regional qualifiers. No teams competed in the slot allocated for the champions cup.

is GG and Fire will go up against Team NP, Onyx, Team Freedom, compLexity and Wheel Whreck While Whistling in the Kiev Major NA Regional Qualifiers, scheduled to take place between March 10-12.

The Kiev Major will be held in Kiev, Ukraine, between April 27-30th, at National Palace of Arts, with a set $3,000,000 prize pool. Sixteen teams will compete at the main event hosted by PGL.

Kiev Major Open Qualifiers

Much like for the previous year’s Majors, there will be two opportunities for teams to compete in the Open Qualifiers for the Kiev Major. Two rounds of Open Qualifier will be hosted: the first Open Qualifier will take place on the 6th and 7th of March, while the second Open Qualifier will follow on the 8th and 9th of March. Teams are able to register and participate in both sets of events.

Kiev Major Regional Qualifiers

The Kiev Major NA Regional Qualifiers are being held on site starting on Friday, March 10th at 19:00 CET.

There will be two phases to the Kiev Major Qualifiers format – group and playoffs.

Group Phase

• One group
• Round-Robin
• Best-of-one matches
• 1 point for wins
• 0 points for loss
• Teams placed 1-4 move to playoffs

Tiebreakers: If there is tie between 4th and 5th position a tiebreaker match will be played. For ties between all other positions winner is determined based on head-to-head results.

Playoff Phase

• 1st place team chooses 3rd or 4th place team as opponent
• 2nd place team competes against remaining team
• GSL bracket format
• Best of three series
• Two teams advance to Kiev Major
