Austin “Capitalist” Walsh, one of the most prevalent casters in Dota 2 will be leaving his position at Join Dota to return to the United States and pursue an independent, freelancing career. Capitalist joined the ranks of Toby “Tobiwan” Dawson at Join Dota in 2013 where he climbed the rungs of success and popularity.

Austin “Capitalist” Walsh has announced that he will be returning to the United States after three years of casting and producing various content with Join Dota Studios in Germany.
Over the course of the last year or so, I’ve grown increasingly restless with my life in Germany. I set out with a certain list of goals when I joined Freaks4U and I’ve accomplished most of those, thanks in a large part to their help (…) However, this has come at the cost of my personal life, which has suffered so far away fromo home in a country I’m not very integrated in (due to no one’s fault by my own). I’ve decided to return home where I can be close to my family.
Starting out commentating HoN/Dota 1 in early 2010, it wasn’t until about 2013 that Austin considers hitting his lucky break. It was then that he made the move across the Atlantic Ocean and began his career as a co-caster alongside TobiWan.
He assumed his position at Join Dota Studios, casting games and creating content with Soe “Sombie” Gschwind-Penski. Through his years, he has grown tremendously in his career and became one of the most notable casters in the scene.
Austin plans on going independent in his career as a free-lancer. In an extremely personal essay he reveals all of his feelings, trepidations and thoughts around his career and status as he approaches the next phase in his life.
So, I game myself an ultimatum: spend this year doing what I love the most in the environment of my choosing, being independent while streaming, casting & working events as much as possible and see if I can become a personality & create content that has a fanbase that will support me no matter what.
Capitalist participated in TI4, TI5 and TI6 -as well as the other Dota 2 Majors and premier events. His contribution to the broadcasts has been top notch and fans await his next venture.

(969 comments)Sad to see him go but you have to know your priority. When your personal life is at stake then you need a change of pace in life. Casting closer to home. Good choice.
