The quarter finals for the WCA take place tonight, with the final eight teams vying for the one slot to compete alongside teams such as Team Secret, Virtus.Pro, LGD Gaming, CDEC, Invictus Gaming, MVP.Phoenix, TnC Gaming and Not Today in Yinchuan, China from December 17th-21st for the $650,000 prize pool. Team Empire, CISR, Alliance and No Logic Gaming are among those left standing.
The open qualifiers for the WCA 2015 Grand Finals began last night with 256 European teams battling it out for the one remaining European Slot available to compete in China in December.
Among the competitors were Team Empire, Na’Vi, Alliance, NiP, HellRaisers, The Retry, CIS Rejects, Arcade.Power Rangers, No Logic Gaming, ATN, STARK, LemonDogs, YES, London Conspiracy, Fantastic Five, Abraxas, HeHe United, Goomba Gaming.
With the release of Patch update 6.85b, taking a significant amount of time to download, games were delayed in the later stages, going well into the late night, beyond midnight for some teams.
Round 6 saw the elimination of Na’Vi by CIS Rejects and Fantastic Five by Team Empire.

WCA 2015 Qualified teams
The WCA 2015 Pro Qualifiers began in April with LGD Gaming, CDEC and Invictus Gaming securing their places in the main event following the Chinese Pro Qualifiers. In May, Summer’s Rift and NoT Today qualified to participate in the event from the America’s Pro Qualifiers. Team Secret and Virtus.Pro were the two European Pro teams to qualify in September. MVP.Phoenix and TnC Gaming have taken the two SEA Pro regional spots earlier in October.
No word has been released regarding which team will replace Summer’s Rift following their disband after TI5 nor the Open Qualifiers for all of the remaining regions and the Wild Card spots.
WCA 2014
Last year, WCA 2014 was held in October and Newbee quickly seized first place, with Cloud 9 taking second and Alliance placing third. The total prize pool was approximately $472,000.

The World Cyber Arena (WCA) is one of the premier organizers of global eSports tournaments. In 2015 it boasts a prize pool totaling $3.9 million dollars, the comprehensive series will feature four separate titles with invite-only Pro Qualifiers and Open Qualifiers. Players compete for cash and a trip to Yinchuan, China, to play at the WCA2015 Finals for their share of the $1.9 million Finals prize pool across all titles – WarCraft III, CrossFire, Dota 2, Hearthstone, and Heroes of The Storm.
