compLexity had a really strong showing once again with a display of well oiled teamplay and communication. Both Zakari “Zfreek” Freedman and Linus “Limmp” Blomdin were on fire with spectacular performances. Alliance showed incredible resiliency bringing themselves back to the top, but it wasn’t enough. compLexity upset the Swedish squad and are the new underdogs of Shanghai Major.
The third day of the Shanghai Major began with the Upper Brackets series between Team Liquid vs MVP.Phoenix, followed by Evil Genisues vs Team Secret. Team Liquid and Team Secret have advanced in the Upper Brackets, while MVP.Phoenix and Evil Geniuses have dropped to the Lower Brackets.
One more team will be eliminated today. OG and Fnatic will compete in the next best-of-three elimination series.
Alliance eliminated was the ninth squad to leave their Shanghai hopes behind.
Shanghai Major elimination: Lower Brackets
Alliance vs. compLexity
The elimination series started with a great game that was back and forth and close. Alliance took the lead but compLexity struck back each time, unable to really push ahead from behind. The Zeus pick for Gustav “s4” Magnusson turned out to be really significant. While Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg’s Lone Druid was shut down, Alliance was still able to take the win as compLexity had no real way to best Alliance in the team fights.
8 kills at 1:30, SURE why not

The second match of the series gave Alliance both Chen and Nature’s Prophet but it wasn’t enough. compLexity was able to successfully defend the heavy push coming out from Alliance and a heavily farmed Sven and Invoker gave the North American team a way to victory.
The third match saw compLexity draft a very mobile and draft while Alliance were able to take their Nature’s Prophet again. Zfreek was on fire once again as he secured a courier snipe and midlane as he set up the first blood for Limmp. In the first four minutes compLexity had taken a substantial lead with a 5:0 lead and 20k gold advantage. They continue to just destroy Alliance in the early game but the Swedish team had maintained their composure and found their way back into the game with a vengeance. The game continued to build on intensity and thrills climaxing to a very dramatic end with a five man wipe. The North American underdogs had clinched the victory and series, upsetting the TI3 champions and seeing Alliance eliminated.
Shanghai Major results: Alliance 1:2 compLexity Gaming. compLexity continues in the Lower Brackets, after getting Alliance eliminated from the event.
