Information released by IceFrog indicates that balancing patch update 6.85 will be implemented before the first Dota 2 Major. The patch is expected to balance out the game and heroes, while an even bigger change will occur in patch 6.86, after the first Major.
6.85 is coming soon. Most likely next week. Will be a balance update in prep for the Majors Qualifier. Bigger changes in 6.86 after Majors.

Game developer IceFrog has announced on the official developer website that there will be a balance update in preparation for the first Dota 2 Major – patch update 6.85 – and that the bigger changes will be made in version 6.86, after the Major.
On September 9th, the client was updated to include the official release of Reborn. Since the release, there have been numerous bugs and reported issues that have been continuously addressed on a daily basis. Patch update 6.85 will be the first balance patch since 6.84’s release, in April.
First Dota 2 Major
The first of the Majors was announced to be held in Europe, in November, and will feature directly invited teams and qualified teams.
Rosters had to be locked in by September 5th in order to be eligible for direct invitations or regional qualifier invitations that will be issued on October 5th.
Open qualifiers will be held starting with October 6th and Regional Qualifiers will start on October 10th.
