After their previous Dota 2 squad disbanded on August 14th, Cloud 9 have decided to pick up the North-American team “Dark Horse”, just in time to meet the registration deadline for the first Dota 2 Major. The announcement about the Cloud 9 new roster was made by the team’s captain, Theeban “1437” Siva, on his Facebook page.
According to 1437, Cloud 9 understand his concept of “bringing in a few fresh faces to reinvigorate the NA scene” and are “enthusiastic to invest in the future of NA Dota”:
I wanted a team composed of experienced players and new blood that will encourage a team dynamic with the dedication that is required for improvement and eventual success. I watched and tried out a lot of people to find players and put together a team that I believe can grow into the future of NA Dota. I’ll be captaining the team as the five position support, Braxton “Brax” Paulson will be playing the mid role, Arif “MSS” Anwar on offlane, leaving Ravi “Ritsu” Kodippili in the safe-lane carry role and Avery “SVG” in the four position with Chase “Loomdun” Stearns as coach and sub.
The mix has recently played in the ESL One New York North-American open qualifiers under the name “Dark Horse” and managed to advance into the main qualifiers.
Before Theeban “1437” Siva’s announcement, Cloud 9 were expected to back up on of the teams put together by either Armand “bOne7” Pittner, Adrian “FATA-“ Trinks, or Johan “BigDaddy” Sundstein.
Cloud 9 have not made an official announcement regarding their new Dota 2 roster by the time this article was published.
