Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin has announced on his stream earlier today that he will be returning to the competitive scene as a coach for Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Chessie has confirmed that he will be moving into the NiP team house in just a matter of days and that if the team qualifies for The International 5, he will be traveling with them to continue to support them in his role.
Chessie had been standing in for Alliance shortly after TI4, when Jerry “EGM” Lundkvist and Gustav “s4” Magnusson had departed the team. Chessie competed with the team and placed third in World Cyber Arena, in China, and third/fourth in NVIDIA Game. However, he had some serious back problems which started even before WCA. He was on leave for months, including missing ESL One New York and being replaced by Joel “Apemother” Larrson in StarLadder Season X.
During his leave of absence, Chessie took to Reddit to explain his situation:
After this I went kind of underground, didn’t want to log into Steam because everyone was always asking me how I’m progressing, when I can play and so on (…) As of today, I will SLOWLY begin playing more games, and stream my rehabilitation on twitch.tv/chessie. The first few days I will only play 2-3 games each day, then I will take it from there and see what happens. I barely made the 15 games necessary in the past 21 days to show up on the leaderboards and I’ve got a MMR of 7100 right now, so that’s a start. Going on various treatments every week is expensive, so this is my way to try to both get an overall higher quality of life, to be able to heal, and also make myself some money as I cannot perform a regular job like this.
Since then, Chessie has been playing and streaming on a daily basis, but has still remained somewhat out of the competitive spotlight.
I found @ChessieDota !! I always miss all my sons so bad.

Ninjas in Pyjamas has recently received an invite to the TI5 qualifiers taking place starting May 28th, and will need to start getting into shape to compete for a chance to attend The International 5.
NiP have going through a bad string recently, having lost to Virtus.Pro twice (first in the X-Games 2015 qualifiers and then during ASUS Play It Cool) and being the first team to get eliminated from the D2CL Season 5 LAN finals.
Chessie is the brother of NiP mid player Linus “Limmp” Blomdin.
