Team Bazaar (formerly WG.Unity) secured a spot in the regional qualifiers after coming out on top in the Kiev Major SEA Open Qualifiers. The rising and well known team from Malaysia survived the brutal best-of-one rounds to advance further into the brackets.
Picking up Benjamin “Ben” Lim Yi Cheong after the roster lock day meant that WG.Unity needed to compete in the Kiev Major SEA Open Qualifiers for a shot at the regional and main event. Then, last month the squad made a change in sponsorship organization, being picked up by Team Bazaar. At the same time, the team took second place in the Mr. Cat Invitational Season 2 after falling to Team Faceless 3:0 in the finals.
Team Bazaary had a fantastic run through the qualifiers – taking on the infamous White Fries Gaming with a 2:1 result before heading into the finals to Face EVOS.
EVOS, a team from Indonesia seemed to be on equal footing the Malaysians. The winner was decided in a full three game series that was exhilarating for fans to watch. EVOS took the first victory of the series in 44 minutes, after a few ups and downs and in spite of the fact that Team Bazaar was the one in the lead and with the advantage for the match. Team Bazaar struck back hard in the second series, taking the win in only 22 minutes and securing a final shot at the coveted regional spot.
In a flurry of excitement and turns, the last match was fitting for such an important event and it was Team Bazaar that would turn things around for the win at the end.
Team Bazaar will go up against Clutch Gamers, Team Faceless, Execration, Rex Regum Qeon, Geek Fam, TNC Pro Team, Mineski, Prestige World Wide and one other team still to be determined, in the Kiev Major SEA Regional Qualifiers, scheduled to take place between March 11-12.
The Kiev Major will be held in Kiev, Ukraine, between April 27-30th, at National Palace of Arts, with a set $3,000,000 prize pool. Sixteen teams will compete at the main event hosted by PGL.
Kiev Major Open Qualifiers
Much like for the previous year’s Majors, there will be two opportunities for teams to compete in the Open Qualifiers for the Kiev Major. Two rounds of Open Qualifier will be hosted: the first Open Qualifier will take place on the 6th and 7th of March, while the second Open Qualifier will follow on the 8th and 9th of March. Teams are able to register and participate in both sets of events.
