coL, Alliance,Team NP, organizers and talent yet to be paid for Northern Arena

Four months later, several teams including coL, Alliance, Team NP, the organizers and talent lineup have yet to be paid for their involvement in the Northern Arena BEAT Invitational. The first large Dota 2 LAN event taking place in Canada was completed on November 13th, just prior to the Boston Major. Reports indicate that while there is acknowledgement of owing money to several teams, Northern Arena has disputed allegations of money owed to BEAT Gaming and not responded to accusations made by MoonduckTV.

According to a report by Thescoreesports, Northern Arena has not yet paid out significant chunks of change to participants of their LAN event hosted in Montreal Canada Novemember 10-13th partnership with BEAT Gaming.

Included in the allegations against the Canadian company are compLexity Gaming ($2,000 for placing 7th-8th), Alliance ($4,000 for finishing in 5th-6th) and Team NP (owed $20,000 for placing 2nd).

MoonduckTV’s managing director Andrew “Zyori” Campbell told thescore the talent had not yet been paid and MoonduckTV would be taking legal action against the company.

BEAT Gaming have also alleged they are still owed money, having paid administrative fees and salaries for statisticians, tournament admins and a translator with the explicit understanding the money would reimbursed following the event. BEAT Gaming was responsible for organizing the tournament and running the qualifiers as their part of the partnership.

While Northern Arena CEO Carl-Edwin Michel confirmed that money is still owed due to being a new and small company that relies on the sponsors for funding, they have denied accusations by BEAT Gaming – going so far to say that the two companies are already in a legal dispute over a breach of contract.

Northern Arena BEAT Invitational LAN

Beat Gaming Corp, organizers of the Canada Cup series, and Canadian League of Gamers announced a joint LAN tournament – the Northern Arena BEAT Invitational LAN.

The Northern Arena BEAT Invitational LAN featured eight teams – seven directly invited and one qualified team, competing for a $100,000 prize-pool at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, between November 10th-13th.

The teams went head to head in a double elimination bracket, with a Best-of-three grand final.

Wings Gaming claimed the Northern Arena BEAT Invitational championship title after a knockout 2:0 victory against Team NP.

• 3rd place – EHOME – $12,000

• 4th place – Evil Geniuses – $8,000

• 5th-6th – Ad Finem, Alliance – $4,000

• 7th-8th – FDL, compLexity Gaming – $2,000
