WESG 2016 Finals are around the corner, taking place January 12th to 15th in Changzhou, China at the Changzhou Olympic Stadium. The total prizepool across all gaming disciplines is $5.5 million – a cool $1,500,000 for Dota 2 alone. Twenty-four national teams from across the world will gather to kick off the new year. Groups, format and details have now been released.
WESG 2016 Finals will be underway starting early in the new year, after the major teams have registered and locked in and players have returned from holiday vacations.
Converging in Changzhou, China – teams from across the world and disciplines will compete for the total prizepool of $5.5 million.
Being a world class multi-title event, WESG has had over 60,000 players participating among almost 200 nations.
WESG 2016 is a tournament hosted by Alisports including CS:GO, Dota2, Hearthstone and Starcraft II – boasting a total prizepool of $5.5 million. The WESG 2016 Finals – presented by Alipay will take place from January 12th to 15th 2017, including 336 players from 37 different nations competing in Changzhou, China at the Changzhou Olympic Stadium.
WESG 2016 Finals format
Dota 2 will feature 24 contenders from across four regions at the WESG 2016 Finals. Teams have been broken up into four groups.
Group Stage
- Four groups of six teams each

- First place teams go straight to the quarterfinals
- Bottom three teams of each group are eliminated
