Boston Major finals are finally here! Only four squads remain after Evil Geniuses knocked out VP, OG bested WG.Unity, Digital Chaos crushed Team NP and Ad Finem defeated LGD.FY. The storylines for each of the four remaining teams are dramatic and intense, only one will have a happy ending. Action kicks off at 10:00 EST/16:00 CET.
Boston Major finals are about to descend upon Wang Theater.
After a continued successful and thrilling evening in Boston, the final four teams have been determined.
The night kicked off with one of the most anticipated match ups – the favorite home team – Evil Geniuses against the new CIS reckoning – Virtus.Pro. Evil Geniuses appeared to be prepared for their opponents, the first game ending in their favor in only 19 minutes following strong a long laning phase. The second match was intense and a true grit battle. In the end a cheeky Blademail on Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and dropped Divine Rapier by Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko ended a nearly hour match giving Evil Geniuses the clean sweep and victory. Evil Geniuses once again have placed the top four in a Valve event.
Two time Valve champions – OG faced off against the newly recognized Malaysian sensations – WarriorsGaming.Unity. The Europeans were heavily outdrafted in the first game and WG.Unity were able to go blow for blow in team fights, taking the first game of the series from the veteran squad. The Malaysian’s inexperience compared to OG would eventually be their downfall as OG rebounded in the next two matches to claim the series. WarriorsGaming.Unity turned heads, gained fans and impressed the critics across the world, a monumental win if nothing else. OG are now one step closer to claiming a third championship title from Valve.
The North American battle of the night was held between Team NP and Digital Chaos. The series ended up being less closely matched than anticipated as Digital Chaos walked over Team NP. In 20 minutes the TI6 runners up had a 20k gold lead. DC are now in the top four, inching closer to the trophy that eluded them only a few months ago in August.
Ad Finem went head to head with LGD.FY. The Greeks have already shown raw emotion and passion throughout the event, building up and creating an avid fan following and hype around them. Taking down the only remaining Chinese hope in the first game, the Greeks were poised for greatness. Zhang “xiao8” Ning was not about to let things slip from his hand and led the team to strike back hard to tie up the series. With everything on the line, Ad Finem gave it their all and came out on top. Their first Valve event continues with them taking a top four placement.
The champions will be determined today following the first of the semi finals- Evil Geniuses taking on the OG at 10:00 EST/16:00 CET.
