Boston Major standings: Ad Finem’s remarkable upset, LGD.FY only Chinese hope left

Boston Major standings for the final eight have been determined. Digital Chaos continue to cruise through undefeated, Team NP topple over EHOME, Ad Finem stunned the world upsetting Newbee and LGD.FY took out their sister team LGD Gaming. There isn’t much rest or time for celebration for the victors – joining up with the day 1 winners – Virtus.Pro, Evil Geniuses, WG.Unity and OG – where four more teams will be eliminated. Only four squads will remain by tomorrow and only one will be crowned champion. Action kicks off at 10:00 EST/16:00 CET.

The Boston Major standings leave only half of the original sixteen teams on the scoreboard.

Digital Chaos kicked the night off with a strong win and seemingly easy triumph to continue their undefeated streak for the event. The North American based team wiped out the SEA hopefuls- Team Faceless 2:0.

EHOME dropped to Team NP, being the first of the four Chinese teams to fall. The Chinese team looked dominant in the first game, taking the victory in a crushing manner. However, Team NP’s standout support players, superior vision and cohesive team fights were too much for EHOME to contend with in the next two games and they were unable to hold on to their advantage and momentum. In a 2:1 series, EHOME were eliminated.

Ad Finem’s success was foreshadowed by Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos’s tweet earlier in the night indicating he didn’t come to the event to play passive Dota. Dropping the first match of the night seemed only fuel the Greek’s desire and hunger to win. Their team fights, engagements and space that was created for heroes farm was only dwarfed by the obvious electric charge driving the team forward. In a shocking 2:1 triumph, Ad Finem had eliminated the TI4 championship team – Newbee.

After a thrilling spectacle of a night- only one Chinese team remains as the beacon of light and hope for the nation – LGD.FY. The last match of the night pitted the organization’s two teams against each other. LGD – the last minute replacement team against LGD.FY – a team using two stand in’s Yang “END” Pu and Leong “DDC” Fat-meng from Vici Gaming. In a fantastic 2:0 sweep the night was over and the lights went out on Lu “Maybe” Yao and friends.

Team Faceless, EHOME, Newbee and LGD Gaming walked away after one series on the main stage and with $62,500 each. Four more teams will join them today to continue to watch from the sidelines.

The hoopla continues today with the North American Giants – Evil Geniuses taking on the CIS titans – Virtus.Pro at 10:00 EST/16:00 CET.
