LGD Gaming rise to the top in Chinese Boston Major qualifier playoffs

After a striking 8:1 run, LGD Gaming have secured the top seed in the Chinese Boston Major qualifier playoffs. LGD Gaming, LGD.Forever Young, IG.Vitality and EHOME.Keen have advanced to the Chinese qualifier playoffs after two days of group stage matches. The four teams are made the cut to compete further for one of two spots available in the Boston Major. The first match is set to take place on Sunday, October 30th, at 04:00 CET between LGD Gaming and IG.Vitality.

LGD Gaming, LGD.Forever Young, IG.Vitality and EHOME.Keen are headed to the Boston Major Chinese regional qualifier playoffs.

LGD Gaming were the forerunners of the event, with stand out and strong performances. Their potency landed them the top seed for the Chinese Boston Major qualifier playoffs and appear to have the upper hand moving forward.

As a reward for their efforts, LGD Gaming were allowed to choose their opponents moving forward. They went for IG.Vitality, the only team they dropped a match to in the group stage.

IG.Vitality and LGD.Forever Young tied for second/third place with a 7:2 score – LGD.FY were placed second due to head to head results.

A tie between EHOME.Keen and IG was necessary to determine the fourth place team – the defining moment for one team’s dreams. IG gave it their best shot, but fell short as EHOME.Keen defeated and thereby eliminated them.

Invictus.Gaming, CDEC, ViCi Gaming, Team VG.J, FTD.A and EHOME.X didn’t make the cut and have ended their hopes for an appearance at the Boston Major.

ViCi Gaming’s performance and results were disappointing for Chinese fans with a 4:5 record placing 7th. EHOME.X have ended their run without claiming a single win.

Boston Major Qualifiers format

The Boston Major Qualifiers format has been adjusted compared to previous Majors. This season, teams will be pitted against each other in a single group, instead of divided into two groups. Another significant change, teams will face each other in a best-of-one round robin. The top four teams in the group stage will advance to a best-of-three GSL-style playoffs bracket. Two teams per region will qualify for the Boston Major. Thus, there will be two phases to the Boston Major Qualifiers format: group stage and playoffs.

The Boston Major will be held between December 7th-11th, at the Wang Theater, in Boston, USA, with a set prize-pool of $3,000,000. Sixteen teams will compete in the main event hosted by PGL and Valve. Wings Gaming, Digital Chaos, Evil Geniuses, Newbee, EHOME, Execration, OG and MVP.Phoenix have already been directly invited to the event.
