The WESG Europe LAN finals group stage results are in! Alliance, Horde, Ne Ru and Ukraine have secured their place in the top 8 – granting them access to the playoffs and in the main event of China. Eight more teams – Fantastic Five, Denmark, Comanche, Wombat Gaming, Team Romania, Que La Famille, Imperial and woof have advanced to the first round of the playoff stage. Four of these teams will be eliminated today, four will advance in the playoffs and to China. In China, the final eight teams will battle it out for a share of the $1.5 million prize pool
The WESG Europe LAN finals group stage results are in! Four teams – Alliance, Horde, Ne Ru and Ukraine have emerged victorious, securing a top 8 finish, place in the playoffs and spot in the main event in China. The four teams took first place in their groups and will be seeded directly into the second round of the playoffs.
Eight other teams Fantastic Five, Denmark, Comanche, Wombat Gaming, Team Romania, Que La Famille, Imperial and woof have advanced to the playoffs after securing second and third place in the group stage. These teams will advance to the first round of the playoffs.
Eight teams – NecroRaisers, Zeta Pegasi, LVLUP, XENEX Gaming, Zero Hoots Given, Paragon eSports, ALTERNATE aTTaX and Butterfly Effect were eliminated after the group stage – taking the bottom two positions in their groups.
In a best-of-three face off, four teams will be eliminated in the first round today. The four teams left standing will continue to advance in the playoffs joining ALliance, Horde, Ne Ru and Ukraine.
On the line is $75,000. Only eight teams will advance to the main event featuring a $1,500,000 prize pool in China during the month of December.
Twenty qualified national teams from from 15 different countries around Europe and CIS have gathered at Stereo Plaza in Kiev, Ukraine between October 6 – 9th.
WESG Europe LAN Finals Group stage results
Group A
Horde (Excalibur, Kefka, Solitude, Pablo, Akke) topped their group with an undefeated 4:0 record at the end of the day. The team cruised to the top eight finish and secured a ticket to China. Fantastic Five dropped one match, to Horde, for a 3:1 record and second place finish, followed by Denmark with an average performance in the event. Zeta Pegasi was unable to clinch a single victory by the end and finished last with a 0:4 record.
Group B
Ne Ru (ARTES, Pikachu, bd1sh, orbita, CaptainLove) also finished as the strongest in their group with a flawless 4:0 victory. The team will head to China to represent the Ukraine at the main event and has seeded into the second round of playoffs. Comanche had an impressive record, dropping their only game to Ne Ru and finishing second with a 3:1 record. They were followed by Wombat Gaming – all will participate in the playoffs later today. The new Serbian based team, LVLUP were one spot shy of advancing, thus being eliminated from the event along with XENEX Gaming.
Group C
Ukraine (Resolut1on, Dendi, GeneRaL, ALWAYSWANNAFLY, ArtStyle) was one of the overall and the home crowd favorites of the event. No surprise they were able to top the group without a single loss and secure a ticket to China. Team Romania had a strong showing and came in second place after defeating all the teams in the group except for Ukraine. The French team Que La Famille took third, knocking Zero Hoots Given and Paragon eSports out of contention.
Group D
Alliance and Imperial both tied at the top with the 3:1 record but the top seed went to Alliance who had previously defeated Imperial. Alliance have secured their place in China, leaving Imperial and Woof to battle it out in the playoffs for a second change to qualify. The Polish team ATN had started out at the top of their group but quickly fell to fourth place by the end of the day and were eliminated along with Butterfly Effect.
