Nanyang Championships Cruise; Wings Gaming and Newbee on board

Nanyang Championships Cruise will feature four Chinese teams battling it out on the open seas. Wings Gaming and Newbee have already accepted their direct invite for the event. Two more Chinese teams will qualify to join them on the Sapphire Princess Cruise Ship October 13-17th.

Nanyang Championships Cruise is bound to make waves in the Dota 2 tournament scene as the first event held on the open waters on board of a cruise ship.

Set to sail October 13-17th, Wings Gaming, Newbee and two other qualified Chinese teams will compete for the ¥ 300,000 (~approximately $44,966) prize pool.

Eighteen Chinese teams will participate in the Chinese qualifiers – 16 teams will be competing in the group phase for one of six spots to advance to the playoffs.

Invictus Gaming.Vitality and EHOME have been directly invited to the playoffs.

Group Stages have already begun earlier today.

• Sixteen teams
• Four groups include four teams in each group
• Best-of-one round-robin
• Winner of each group advaces to Playoffs
• 2nd place of each group goes to the Extra group

• Best-of-one round-robin
• Top two team advance to Playoffs

Playoffs

• Eight teams: Six teams from the Group Stage plus iG Vitality and EHOME
• Best-of-three single-elimination
• Top two teams advance to Main Event

Nanyang Championships season 2 finals came to a dramatic end in July 2016 when Newbee outplayed and outlasted Wings Gaming 3:2 in the best-of-five grand finals.

The base prize pool for this tournament was $200,000. An additional 25% of all tickets sales was added to the total prize pool.
The final prize pool is $200,971.
