SL iLeague StarSeries s2 day 2 yielded some surprising results. It was a rough day for North America – with all three teams dropping a notch below the expectations. compLexity Gaming and CDEC.Youth have been eliminated. Na’Vi and Team Secret have advanced to the winner bracket finals and Digital Chaos and Evil Geniuses have dropped to the lower bracket elimination series. The competition resumes with the Lower Bracket elimination series between Fnatic and Digital Chaos, starting at 18:30 CEST, followed by the elimination series between Evil Geniuses and F.R.I.E.N.D.S
SL iLeague StarSeries s2 day 2 produced some interesting and surprising twists of fate. In stark comparison to the first day, where the event had a very vanilla flavor to it – day 2 was spiced up and quite unexpected.
Na’Vi’s defeat over Evil Geniuses came not just as a surprise -having easily swept through the North American reigning International champions, but how they absolutely shellacked them in doing so. The first game lasted 28 minutes but for the second match – EG was bleeding blue in only 15 minutes. As Dmitry “Ditya Ra” Minenkov’s Huskar headed down middle lane, Danil “Dendi” Ishutin headed to safe lane.
compLexity Gaming seemed to struggle being able to clinch their victories and seal the deal when leading. It was a surprising upset for compLexity Gaming and North American fans as they fell 2:1 to F.R.I.E.N.D.S – the ex-Virtus Pro squad that was dropped from their organization after a train wreck of a season. compLexity gaming had the lead in the first match but couldn’t quite end the game successfully in their favor, taking two horrible team fights back to back and giving the victory away. Managing to rebound in the second match and tie up the series, they once again lost their lead 30 minutes into the deciding game and were thus eliminated.
CDEC.Youth gave Fnatic a bit of a scare, taking the first game from them in the series – but the Malaysian based squad prevailed in the end with their 2:1 victory.
Team Secret – a team that had been struggling since they initiated their second great reshuffle controversy – was able to turn on their star power against Digital Chaos. After a tied up series, the third match was a circus and the ringleader was none other than Artour “Arteezy” Babaev on the ‘broken’ Alchemist. Team Secret’s victory pits them against Na’Vi in the upper bracket finals.
compLexity Gaming and CDEC.Youth have packed it up – ending their California dreamin’ behind. Team Secret and Na’Vi will continue through the Upper Brackets, while Fnatic, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Digital Chaos and Evil Geniuses will go head to head in the elimination series, in the Lower Brackets.
All matches are best-of-three and completed in a double elimination bracket format, giving the lower bracket teams a fighting chance to claim the last championship title before TI6.
