We take a look at the TI6 Open Qualifiers 2 results after the first day of action in the brutal best-of-one brackets. Sixteen teams are left standing in two of the regions – China and Southeast Asia. Europe has 21 teams left, while Americas has 64 teams left after unforeseen delays wrecked havoc on the schedule. Remaining teams will continue today for the chance to compete in the main Regional Qualifiers.
The release of the Immortal Treasures and patch update caused a 2-hour delay for the start of the Americas TI6 Open Qualifiers and chaos for the remaining rounds of the EU TI6 Open Qualifiers. Some of the matches for EU were rescheduled for today, while Americas played only until Round of 32 instead of 16.
The European region seems to be the only one that suffered multiple losses of notable teams during the first day of the TI6 Open Qualifiers. For Kaipi, ProDota Gaming and Danish Bears the journey ended early.
Veggies Esports Club and MVP.Hot6ix were also unable to advance past the first day in their regions.
Other notable teams from the three regions, such as Shazam, Team Spirit, Polarity, Team Toast, ATN, Elements One, Sqreen’s Squad, Fantastic 5, EverNova, Luccini, EG Bulba, Not Today, RexRegum, Extremist, Mineski-X, Beyond Infinity and TnC will continue today, in the last day of TI6 Open Qualifiers.
All teams are hedging on obtaining the best results tonight. Only one team in each region will have the opportunity to compete in the main Regional Qualifiers scheduled to take place over this weekend, starting June 25th.
The progression of the teams can be monitored in the SEA brackets, EU brackets, NA brackets during the course of the event.
Games are best-of-one, with semifinals (Round of 4) and finals being best-of-three series.
TI6 Open Qualifiers 2 results: notable developments
- In round of 1024, in a match between two teams called DoubleMelons and High Hopes, a Treant/Techies pick would push the game over the 142-minute mark. The mini map was littered with trees and mines and the winning team – Double Melons, secured their victory by blocking off access to the lanes and base. The final score was 98:84.
- ProDota Gaming suffered an unfortunate loss in Round of 128 against Afera. After their carry player, Ylli “Garter” Ramadani, struggled through the last four days with unstable Internet, mid player Ivaylo “Mastermind” Petkov lost electricity in the early game. After 10 minutes of pause, the game was resumed in a 4v5 lineup. It took Afera 60 minutes to secure their win against the handicapped team. Mastermind managed to reconnect, but it was too late for ProDota Gaming, since Afera had already secured their mega creeps and started to take the throne. Afera lost in the next round to YeS.
- The runner-up team from TI6 Open Qualifiers 1 – Danish Bears, was knocked out in Round of 64 by a mixed stack.
- Kaipi was eliminated at the early morning hours, around 02:30 am, in Round of 32 by E-Lab.
- The patch update and Immortal Treasure II release caused the server to crash and created problems for the FaceIT platform. The delays created scheduling issues for both NA and the remaining EU games and some matches were postponed.
- Veggie Esports Club were knocked out by TBolivia in Round of 128.
- MVP.Hot6ix were defeated by Next Generation in Round of 64.
- Gse7en were eliminated by s1-Lykos in Round of 32.
- CDEC.Avenger, EHOME.Keen, EHOME.Luminous, Newbee.Young, FTD club A, FTD club C have made it into the second day of the Chinese Open Qualifiers, as expected.

(868 comments)Had high hopes for Danish bears, shame that they lost. I always cheer for Kaipi, but I think I’m stopping now. I just always end up disappointed.
