The first round of the TI6 Americas Open Qualifiers has come to an end. Evil Geniuses landed the first TI6 Americas Regional Qualifiers spot, after crushing EG Bulba, 2:0, in the finals. The second round of TI6 Americas Open Qualifiers starts June 23 at 18:00 CDT/ 01:00 CEST.
Evil Geniuses destroyed EG Bulba, 2:0, in the finals of the first round of TI6 Americas Open Qualifiers.
The TI5 championship team had plowed through all of their competition during the event with little to no troubles. Their last series was hyped to be a battle between brothers. EG’s Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan faced off in the mid-lane against his older brother, Yawar “YawaR” Hassan.
The battle was more of an obliteration, as it only took 20 minutes for each game to reach a very lopsided conclusion.
Evil Geniuses grabbed the first TI6 Americas Regional Qualifiers spot. The top world contenders were forced to register for the open qualifiers when they became ineligible for a direct invite into the Regional Qualifiers for Americas due to roster changes made outside the transfer window.
Before the Manila Major was even finished, Evil Geniuses had already changed their composition. Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora had unexpectedly returned to the team, replacing Kanishka ‘Sam’ “BuLba” Sosale.
Evil Geniuses will go up against Digital Chaos, FDL, compLexity, Vultur, Drinking Boys and one or two other teams still to be determined in the TI6 EU Regional Qualifiers. Not Today made a last minute roster change resulting in their regional qualifier invite being revoked. There has been no update on whether the team will be replaced or not. The qualifiers are scheduled to take place between June 25th-28th.
TI6 Open Qualifiers schedule
Much like for The International 5, the Frankfurt, Shanghai and Manila Majors, there will be two opportunities for teams to compete in the TI6 Open Qualifiers. Two rounds of Open Qualifiers will be hosted – the first took place between June 21-22, while the second is set for June 23-24. Teams are able to register and participate in both sets of events.

The International 6
The most anticipated tournament of the year for Dota 2 players and enthusiasts will return to the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington, this August. The International 6 main event is set to run for six days, from Monday, August 8th, through Saturday, August 13th.
The current prize pool currently stands at $12,543,595 ($10,943,595 added by the community).
Evil Geniuses
After Team Secret announced Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora’s unexpected departure on June 9th, Evil Geniuses officially confirmed his return. At the same time, Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling was let go and replaced with Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg.
The fallen North American giants have had sub-par performances and disappointing results following the post-Shanghai Major roster shuffle.
The TI5 championship team forfeited their direct invite with the player changes – an unprecedented move for a TI title-holder to be taking the open qualifier road.
Evil Geniuses roster:
Clinton “Fear” Loomis
Syed Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan
Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora
Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg
Peter “ppd” Dager

(868 comments)It’s not just DC, complexity is there as well, although they have been struggling lately. FDL is lurking as well. Will be an interesting RQ, not as interesting as the EU tho.
