The ESL One Frankfurt Grand Finals 2016 were a complete wipe out by OG over Na’Vi – the second time in one month they swept through the CIS team 3:0. In May OG and Na’Vi had a similar meeting at DreamLeague Season 5 with the same results.
Simply crushing their opponents, OG have taken their third championship title in just under a month – DreamLeague Season 5 in May and Manila Major last week. The European team is on fire and no one seems to be able to stop them.
A nearly perfect run in the event, they went through the group stage without dropping a single match and suffered only one loss at the hands of Team Liquid in the semi finals. The two time Major championship winners show no sign of slowing down heading into the last few months before TI6.
Na’Vi was in the same group stage and slid into second place with some amazing performances. They then wiped out Vega earlier in the day to advance to the ESL One Frankfurt Grand Finals 2016 in hopes to claim their first championship title in over 19 months. Their last tournament win being Dota 2 Champions League Season 4 in November 2014.
In the last few months Na’Vi have made tremendous strides to reignite their old form and re-establish their foothold in the competitive scene. Since adding Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini in February they have taken 3 – 4th in Dota Pit League Season 4, 2nd at StarLadder i-League Invitational, 5 – 6th at WePlay Dota 2 League Season 3 and 2nd at DreamLeague Season 5.
ESL One Frankfurt 2016 Grand Finals
OG vs. Na’Vi
The first game OG took started out taking the lead and setting the tempo. After building a considerable lead, OG ended up over-extending at minute 27 giving Na’Vi a change to wipe them out fully. Although it did help the CIS team, their momentum didn’t last long and OG struck back hard. Amer “Miracle-“ Al-Barkawi on TA, Johan “n0tail” Sundstein on Lifestealer and Andreas Franck “Cr1t-“ Nielsen’s Earth Spirit were fantastic, giving OG the edge.

The second game Miracle- was given Anti Mage and Na’Vi picked up a Slark for Ditya Ra. There were many back and forth exchanges and intense fights that created quite a roller coaster of events. OG were still able to maintain their lead on the CIS team and take the second game of the series.

In the third game OG drafted a Lion pick for Miracle- in the support role but Na’Vi came out of the gate swinging. They secured the first four kills and then around minute 7 they lead 7:1. OG started to close the gap after a bad team fight for the CIS team and steadily chipped away at Na’Vi’s lead. Around minute 20 the European team grabbed control of the lead and the game.
