Team Alternate prevails at Legends Factory Poznan 2016

Team Alternate blew local competition away at the Legends Factory Poznan 2016 tournament, last weekend, and walked away with the trophy, after besting House of Champions, 2:0, in the Grand Finals.

Six Polish teams – Team Alternate, House of Champions, Mokry Karton, Złotopolscy, NIE Team, and Armia Papieża – competed last weekend in the Legends Factory Poznan 2016 tournament – the first Dota 2 tournament ran by Legends Factory and organized by Dota2.pl. The Dota 2 segment was held during Pyrkon – a Fan Convention in Poznań, Poland – between April 9-10.

Local fans were able to watch the games live from a viewing area. The competition was also broadcast live on the Dota2.pl twitch channel.

The six teams started out in a Round Robin group stage. Top four teams in the group stage – Team Alternate, House of Champions, Mokry Karton, Złotopolscy – moved forward in the single elimination playoffs.

Team Alternate topped the group stage with a 5:0 record and, in accordance with the tournament’s format, were allowed to pick their semifinal opponents from the 3rd and 4th place contenders.

Alternate bested both Mokry Karton and House of Champions effortlessly in clean 2:0 sweeps and walked away with the trophy and the zł 2500 (approximately $667) prize.

House of Champions were the runners-up and Złotopolscy managed to climb on the podium after taking Mokry Karton down in the third place decider.

Pyrkon

Pyrkon is a Polish fan convention held annually in Poznań on the first weekend after the spring equinox. It is dedicated to an integration of Science fiction fandom and promotion of science-fiction/fantasy literature, comics, film, television, video games, RPG, LARP, board games, collectible card games and miniature wargaming.

This year, the event featured a closed Dota 2 tournament and open League of Legends and StarCraft 2 tournaments.
