The Shanghai Major is starting to wind down as the fourth day is already underway. The eliminations continued early this morning in an All American showdown between Evil Geniuses and compLexity Gaming. The TI5 championship team cleaned up the lower brackets, 2:0, as they brutally fought their way to advance.
compLexity’s run was a phenomenal one, that showed remarkable coordination, synergy, team leadership, adaptability and individual skill. These underdogs have won the hearts of fans around the world, rallying around to support their hard work and dedication.
Evil Geniuses continue to demonstrate their superior drafting skills and quick adaptability and adjusting. These TI5 champions continue in the lower brackets later today for another chance to prove their worth and maintain their reputation.

The first game of the series started out even keeled and gave compLexity the slight advantage after the laning phase. However, after shutting down Kyle “swindlemelonzz” Freedman and Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s ursa becoming unstoppable, EG pulled ahead easily. Incredible combinations and team play on the part of Evil Geniuses were the highlights of the game. Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora continues to be instrumental in EG’s domination with his spectacular coordination and on point plays.

The second match of the series was incredibly one sided with Evil Geniuses just pulling away almost immediately. In a matter of 18 mins, the game was over with a score of 19:4. compLexity Gaming barely had a chance as EG knocked down Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin repeatedly and Syed Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan and Arteezy went on to dominate with perfect games.

The Shanghai Major main event will take place between March 2nd-6th, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, in Shanghai, China. Viewers and visitors are in for dawn to dusk action. The Grand Finals will take place on Sunday, March 6th.

Format
Sixteen teams will play a double-elimination bracket.
Eight teams (top two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Upper Bracket. Eight teams (bottom two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Lower Bracket.
All the Upper Bracket match-ups will be best-of-three series.
The first two rounds of the Lower Bracket matches will be best-of-one elimination series. The following rounds will be best-of-three elimination series.
The Shanghai Dota Major Grand Finals will be best-of-five series, with no winners’ advantage.
