While the days prior had brought about some exciting and intense match ups featuring interesting item builds and unconventional hero selections, Summit 4 standings from yesterday were lacking in the overall tension. In what seemed like a matter of mere minutes the day was over as multiple matches were heavily one sided and lasted 30 minutes or less.
Both Mineski and Digital Chaos have been eliminated, leaving some of the best teams to scrap it out in the lower brackets.
Evil Geniuses will continue the next few days, watching from the sidelines and preparing for the grand finals. Three more teams will be eliminated today.
The Summit 4 standings, day 3
The first elimination series took place between Mineski and Virtus.Pro. The series was over in a blink of an eye with Virtus.Pro crushing the Philippine team in less than an hour total. Virtus.Pro had taken control of the first game relatively easy with Alexander “DkPhobos” Kucheria on Broodmother. Attempting to stage a comeback, Minkeski went with the new strategy of a core Vengeful Spirit core and Ursa, however, Virtus.Pro prevented Ursa from being effective and in 22 minutes the game and the series was over. Virtus.Pro eliminated Mineski 2:0.
EHOME and Digital Chaos were the second set of teams facing elimination. EHOME went with tusk for Ren “ELeVeN” Yangwei, a move that typically provides them success, however DC managed to be able to play around the hero and shut down the bristleback as well with Tyler “TC” Cook’s gyrocopter giving the NA team the first victory. EHOME adapted for the second match and were able to clear through DC in only 22 minutes. In the deciding third game, Alchemist, Phantom Lancer and a bad Roshan fight was too much for DC and EHOME were able to claim the victory over DC 2:1, eliminating the NA team.
The last series of the day would determine which team would be appearing in the grand finals. ViCi Gaming faced off against the TI5 champions, Evil Geniuses as the underdogs of the series. Evil Geniuses seized the first game in only 22 minutes with a fantastic performance by Syed Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan on Queen of Pain. ViCi Gaming then went for a Silencer pick for Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei and a Slardar for Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang to take the win for the Chinese team. The third game was another easy victory for EG as they outdrafted the Chinese team and were able to push their way to victory in only 23 minutes. The win gave EG the upper hand 2:1, advancing the the grand finals and dropping VG to the lower brackets.
