Virtus.Pro saw ViCi Gaming eliminated from the Shanghai Major. The Chinese team is the third team to be knocked out of contention, after Team Archon and Team Spirit, earlier today. Virtus.Pro will move forward in the Lower Brackets, joining Alliance, LGD Gaming, EHOME and compLexity Gaming for another best-of-one elimination round. The Shanghai Major elimination series will continue today with the last match-up: CDEC will go up against Newbee, at 18:00 CET.

As the night continued to progress in Shanghai, the last few elimination matches were played in an empty arena. Virtus.Pro saw ViCi Gaming eliminated from the event, adding them to the list of Chinese teams that have been struggling in this tournament with surprising sub-par results.
Virtus.Pro were able to completely destroy ViCi Gaming after approximately 40 minutes of play. The CIS team managed to capitalize on a bad team fight and eventually snowballed full speed ahead.
The Shanghai Major Main Event kicked off today with the Upper Bracket matches between Alliance and Team Liquid, followed by MVP.Phoenix vs. LGD Gaming. Team Liquid and MVP.Phoenix will continue through the Upper Brackets, while Alliance and LGD have dropped to the Lower Brackets, where they will try to survive the second round of best-of-one elimination series, tomorrow.
Team Archon was the first team to be eliminated from the Shanghai Major.
Team Spirit were the second team to be bumped out.
ViCi Gaming is the third team to go home early. Most importantly, VG are the first directly invited team to leave the competition.
Virtus.Pro joins Alliance, LGD Gaming, EHOME and compLexity Gaming in the Lower Brackets, tomorrow.
One more team will be eliminated today. Newbee and CDEC will square off in the next best-of-one elimination series.

Virtus.Pro vs. ViCi Gaming
The do or die best-of-one elimination series began with ViCi Gaming taking the first blood and the laning phase being relatively even. During the early game, Virtus.Pro started to pull ahead slightly before snowballing to the end. Virtus.Pro were able to completely shut down Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang on Phoenix. Artsiom “fng” Barshack had a perfect game and the CIS players executed their strategy well.
Shanghai Major results: Virtus.Pro 1:0 ViCi Gaming. Virtus.Pro continues in the Lower Brackets for another best-of-one elimination series, after seeing ViCi Gaming eliminated from the event.
The Shanghai Major main event
The Shanghai Major main event will take place between March 2nd-6th, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, in Shanghai, China. Viewers and visitors are in for dawn to dusk action. The Grand Finals will take place on Sunday, March 6th.

Format
Sixteen teams will play a double-elimination bracket.
Eight teams (top two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Upper Bracket. Eight teams (bottom two teams of each of the four groups) will start the main event in the Lower Bracket.
All the Upper Bracket match-ups will be best-of-three series.
The first two rounds of the Lower Bracket matches will be best-of-one elimination series. The following rounds will be best-of-three elimination series.
The Shanghai Dota Major Grand Finals will be best-of-five series, with no winners’ advantage.
