Retired Dota 2 player Brian “MaNia” Strandy has quietly made his return to the competitive scene on an all Danish squad called Lianghao/Monkey Business. The team consists of a mix of older and newer faces and has already secured a spot in the ESL One Frankfurt 2015 European Qualifiers.
Veteran Dota 2 player Brian “MaNia” Strandy has decided to make a comeback to the professional scene, and has paired up with former Meet Your Makers teammates Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard, Jon “13abyKnight” Andersen, Malthe “Blan” Zimakoff, and Jonathan “unicornxoxo” Arge, on an up-and-coming all Danish squad called Lianghao/Monkey Business. Christoffer “Ryze” Winther will be the coach and 6th member substitute when necessary.
MaNia told DotaBlast:
I didn’t really have a big urge (editor’s note: to come back), but an all Danish roster with some of the biggest Danish talents was too hard to pass up. I feel like we can make some good results.
The Danes have already begun to show strength and promise, securing a place in the ESL One Frankfurt 2015 European Qualifiers. Additionally, they are competing in the the Dota 2 Iron Trophy tournament and Golden Esports Season 3 league.
Brian “MaNia” Strandy started his career in 2006, being involved in the scene for almost eight years. His most notable achievement is placing 4th at the first International, in 2011, as part of Meet Your Makers, along with his teammates Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho, Jacob “Maelk” Toft-Andersen, Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen, and Amel “PlaymatE” Barudzija. Shortly after TI1, MaNia had a string of mediocre teams and results until his retirement in October, 2013. Since then, he has been a staff member of Flipsid3Tactics, primarily focusing on coaching and consulting. His association with team Lianghao/Monkey Business marks his first active role in competitive playing since his retirement. Lianghao’s logo bears the word in Chinese characters, which according to definition, means “good” and “favorable”.
