18:45 CET: Frankfurt Major results,Group D: Elimination Match: Alliance vs Mineski (Loser is seeded into the Lower Bracket)
Alliance were able to grab Furion for Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg, something that is typically a mistake for teams. Mineski was able take first blood, and as Alliance’s lineup were not good team fight heroes, Mineski exploited that, playing very aggressive and forcing fights. Mineski continued to impress with their team synergy and plays. They easily dominated the game shutting down Alliance and punishing them for being greedy. They never allowed the Swedish team to go for the split push early on. The Philippine team took the first game with a score of 31:6 in under 30 minutes.
The second match was much more even and it would be 13 minutes into the match before Alliance would be the first team to take the advantage. However, the Swedish team was outpicked by Mineski and didn’t seem to be prepared for the Huskar pick, not having any good counters. Once everything started to synchronize with Mineski’s lineup, gaining their items and coming online around minute 31, Alliance was not able to fight them off anymore Mineski completely snowballed ahead to the win.
- Frankfurt Major results: Mineski swept Alliance, 2:0, and advanced to the Decider Game. Alliance will compete in the Lower Brackets in the Main Event.
17:15 CET: Frankfurt Major results, Group C: Winners’ Match: Team Secret 2:0 LGD(Winner advances to the Upper Bracket)
Team Secret drafted Aliwi “w33” Omar Wind Ranger, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and AA and Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao the Ember Spirit. The match was super close overall and very back and forth. LGD had the lead in the beginning, with a swing in the game in Team Secret’s Favor about 19 mins in, only to swing back to LGD at about 40 minutes. However, Team Secret had a better late game line up and Eternal Envy saved his team in the late game, with his amazing Ember Spirit plays. After 65 minutes Team Secret were able to secure the first win.
In the second game Team Secret took Chen for Puppey while LGD took the Chaos Knight-Io combo. Team Secret took first blood and the immediate follow up five kills as well. 6 minutes into the game Team Secret had taken 6 kills. They were all over the place with great mobility, great coordination and use of the creeps and positioning. LGD had to struggle to get back into the game and focus on farming after that. It was 11 minutes before LGD was able to register their first kill. LGD was able to take a great defense at 18 minutes at base, prolonging their game longer and hoping to find enough to create an opening and get back into the game. However, they called “GG” after a rampage for w33 and a team wipe 2 minutes later.
