Yesterday, Groups C and D battled it out for their bracket placements for the main event. Perhaps the biggest news to come from yesterday’s groups stages is how Mineski caused a big upset, sweeping through EHOME 2:0 to claim a spot in the Upper Brackets. Equally, fans were disappointed as Alliance struggled in the group phase and landed in the brutal best-of-one elimination Lower brackets.

Upper Bracket teams: Team Secret, CDEC, Mineski and LGD
Lower Bracket teams: Newbee.Young, Alliance, EHOME and Cloud 9
Mineski displayed impressive performances and results in the Group Stage. In an amazing upset, they convincingly swept through EHOME 2:0 to position themselves in the Upper Brackets for the Main Event. With strong drafting, adaptability to their opponents and great team play and synergy, the Philippine team has become a fan favorite of the event.
Team Secret continued to show their strength and superior performances that have lead them to claim two championship titles at LANs already this year and a runner up place since TI5. A Chen pick for Clement “Puppey” Ivanov was an exciting highlight against LGD.
CDEC have proven time and time again their impressive individual skill, solid rotations and team cohesion. This Cinderella team are still on a track for success, taking a place in the Upper Brackets.
LGD fought hard and long to find their way into the Upper Brackets. They played a total of 7 matches. They fell to Team Secret 0:2 and faced Cloud 9 twice – once they bested them 2:1 and the second time swept through the North American team.
EHOME started out the groups really strong, however some questionable picks in their drafts and struggles to be able to execute their strategies sent them to the lower brackets. They were swept by both CDEC and Mineski.
Newbee.Young showed much promise and even upset Team Secret taking a game from them in their series. Their drafting skills are top notch and if the team doesn’t get overconfident and overextend during leads, they have incredible potential to do well.
Alliance struggled in the group phase, not taking a single win in their matches. Being swept by both Mineski and EHOME, the Swedish team finds themselves in the Lower Bracket best-of-one matches. Staging a comeback from there won’t be easy, but of all teams, Alliance knows well how make a great comeback for success.
Cloud 9‘s passive and patient style were not match for the amount of aggression coming out of their opponents. Taking one match in all of their games, the North American team will need to work hard to survive the lower brackets.
