The Fnatic roster has been announced for ESL One Genting 2017. The event takes place starting tomorrow, January 6th with Fnatic being one of the headlining invited teams.
Joining Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung and Chong Xin “Ohaiyo” Khoo – both who have been on the team since June 2015 will be Korean support star Yong-min “Febby” Kim, newcomer Indonesian player Muhammad Rizky “Inyourdream” Anugrah and renowned legendary Malaysian player Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong. YamateH is listed as strictly a stand-in for the event.
Inyourdream is a rookie, who only began his career this year with Fnatic being his first professional team. Known on the SEA servers and leaderboard the veteran players have recruited him as fresh blood to add life to the team.
As we’ve already mentioned, synergy within the team was a top priority. We’ve managed to secure a squad brimming with talent; one sharing a core set of values in terms of achieving success, and one that we’re eager to see fighting at the highest level of international competition.
At the end of November Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho, Nico “eyyou” Barcelon and Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fausto took their leave from the squad, following a sub-par season and limited achievements.
As the team’s progress plateaued in the aftermath of our September reshuffle, one of the problems identified was a lack of consistency in play. What we could see was five individually brilliant and committed players, who didn’t share the same direction to win matches. Obviously this hindered the team from challenging at premier tournaments, so as we have contemplated this new lineup, player compatibility has been paramount in our selection.
The team has until January 9th to finalize their official roster for the upcoming Kiev Major season.
Fnatic’s lineup will be making their debut at ESL One Genting 2017 January 6-8th, competing as one of eight teams for the $250,000 prize pool.
