After such acclaimed success in ESL One Manila, the organization has set their sights on Malaysia as they make a return to SEA for the upcoming ESL One Genting.
The newest tournament setting is located in The Genting Highlands resort area of Malaysia, about one hour from Kuala Lumpur.
The event will take place at the Arena of the Stars. AOS is a part of a resort that includes multiple hotels, amusement parks, casinos & nightclubs that also features a 6,000 person capacity amphitheater.
Eight teams are expected to attend from January 6-8th from the great heights of the highlands for the $250,000 prize pool. Four online qualifiers will be held for each of the four separate regions – China, Europe, North America and SEA.
ESL One Genting and Mineski Event Team
SEA has been a focal point lately for Dota 2, boasting avid fans amid a prestigious backdrop and spectacular event coordination.
ESL One Manila was the organization’s first venture into the SEA region – and it couldn’t have been more successful. Fans, players and attendees had all positive feedback and praises for the production and outcome of the first premier tournament for the region.
Only weeks later The Manila Major was also held at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines with a repeat of incredible turnout and praise.
According to Ulrich Schulze, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL at press release held earlier today –
Dota’s popularity in South East Asia is astonishing and the strategic partnership with Resorts World Genting opens a whole new way of delivering high quality esports content to one of the most enthusiastic, passionate and committed group of fans we’ve ever seen at ESL events.
Mineski Events Team (MET) is the official organizer of ESL-sanctioned events within SEA and long term partner with the brand. Many will remember the events team as the ones who had bailed out the Major All stars tournament as they teetered on the brink of disaster last year.
We have expanded to Malaysia as part of our goal to fortify the esports scene in the entirety of South East Asia. Trust us, we are going to give everyone a spectacular adrenalin show!
– Joel Goh, Chief Operating Officer of Mineski Malaysia
More information of the format of the event will be revealed in the coming weeks.
