Elimination Mode 2.0 saw a doubled prize pool amount and a new twist on the unique and fun game mode – audience participation. In addition to the rules of each hero being banned or picked once per series, an additional ten heroes would be banned out by public vote each day.
Eight teams put their best foot forward to play in limited conditions and prove they were adaptable and versatile enough to be champions.
Escape Gaming and compLexity were the first teams to drop out of the event – followed by Kaipi and Team Liquid. As the days progressed, the selections and strategies got more difficult and more entertaining.
In the end it was a best-of-five series rematch between Evil Geniuses who had reigned in the top brackets and OG – who were kicked to the lower brackets earlier by the North Americans.
After back and forth victories, with OG taking the first of the series, the final tie breaker was expected to be intense. Not only did it not disappoint, but was a full 86 minutes back and forth swings and action packed with kills and thrills. In the end, it was OG that took the victory.
