The Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers are kicking off today. Two teams from each of the four regions – Americas, Europe, China and Southeast Asia – will advance to the Dota Major regional qualifiers. DotaBlast will follow the notable contenders as they advance through the brackets and will provide live updates all throughout the day.

With the announcement of the first Dota Major, an open qualifier for each region was added to the mix, giving eight teams (two from each region) that were not directly invited to the event or its regional qualifiers the opportunity to advance to the regional qualifiers and, ultimately, the chance to attend the Frankfurt Dota Major and compete with the best Dota 2 teams in the world.
Valve and ESL have partnered up with Faceit to host the Dota Major Open Qualifiers and all of the information for teams and interested viewers is wrapped up below.
UPDATE (08:45 CEST): The expected teams – HCoWP, ROOT Gaming, TongFu.NA, Boreal, Mischief and God Bless all advanced to Round 32 to resume later today. First game for HCoWP resulted in an astonishing 53 kills to zero.
UPDATE (08:30 CEST): With only 159 teams participating in the US Dota Majors Open Qualifiers, almost all of the teams started at Round 128 and only played two rounds each. The lower team appearance is most likely due to the scheduling taking place during the weekday in the early afternoon.
UPDATE (20:30 CEST):Lemon Dogs join the ranks of the 32 European remaining teams that will continue to compete for the 9th spot in the EU Dota Major Regional Qualifiers set to start this weekend. Round 32 is set to kick off at 13:00 CEST tomorrow, October 7th and continue until one team is remaining. The semi finals and finals will be in a best-of-three format.
UPDATE (19:50 CEST): MFF, Team Empire, Arcade.PowerRangers, No Logic Gaming, aSpera, Ancient Warriors, ATN, BigRedMachine, HellRaisers, Scareyfacezzz, PRIES have all survived to see one more day and play tomorrow starting with Round of 32. Golden Boys was eliminated by Fantastic Five, a mix featuring BZZisPerfect, Yol and Scandal. HeHe United was eliminated by No Logic Gaming while mYi was defeated by ATN.
UPDATE (18:11 CEST): Team Empire advance to the Round of 64, after a 14-minute-game, 32:0.
UPDATE (18:08 CEST): Kaipi are eliminated in Round of 128 by team ft (3plet, happiness, 5swifty, Qonk, cristalize).
UPDATE (18:01 CEST): Arcade.PowerRangers advance to the Round of 64, where they will face team Garena.
UPDATE (17:35 CEST): No surprising eliminations in the European Open Qualifiers yet. All the notable contenders remain undefeated. Arcade.PowerRangers are currently playing against Fl.int, in the Round of 128. The game is being broadcast on the GD Studio Twitch channel.
UPDATE (17:20 CEST): Monkey Freedom Fighters destroy their opponents, 48:2, in just 19 minutes. aSpera, Angry Balkan Beavers and Zero Respect have all advanced as well.
UPDATE (16:50 CEST): Kaipi cruise through their first round in just over 20 minutes.
UPDATE (16:04 CEST): Team Empire storm through their first round of the Frankfurt Dota Major Open Qualifiers in under 12 minutes, with no resistance from team_oldstenly. Kaipi’s first game is now being broadcast on the GD Studio Twitch channel.
