The DreamLeague Season 3 LAN playoffs held at Dreamhack Summer, in Jönköping, Sweden, are now live for the third and final day. Three teams – Natus Vincere, Virtus.Pro, and Ninjas in Pyjamas are still in the run for the championship title.
*Updated live*
Na’Vi bested Virtus.Pro, 2:1, in the Upper Bracket finals, yesterday, and will play the Grand Finals today, at 18:30 CEST. Ninjas in Pyjamas eliminated their fellow Swedes Alliance from the competition and will face Virtus.Pro in the Lower Bracket finals, at 14:00 CEST. Both the Lower Bracket Finals and the Grand Finals will be best-of-five series.
English broadcast was provided on DreamLeague’s Twitch channel.
VOD UPDATE Na’Vi vs. VP, game 5
UPDATE 01:20 CEST – The deciding fifth game was, probably, the best one of the series: very balanced, with many back and forth exchanges, high level plays, and amazing team fights. Virtus.Pro came up on top and are the DreamLeague Season 3 champions.
VOD UPDATE Na’Vi vs. VP, game 4
UPDATE 22:50 CEST – DKPhobos drew the first blood on Artstyle’s Shadow Demon. However, Virtus.Pro fell behind early in the game and their lineup lacked aggression. Na’Vi carried on the momentum, as Virtus.Pro had difficulties countering Funn1k’s Sand King and XBOCT’s Lycan. Everything started to quickly fall apart for VP, after a fight near Roshan, at minute 13, when they ended up losing four of their heroes. They definitely did not have enough fighting power, they continued to be picked off all around the map and got team wiped around minute 20. Three minutes later, Natus Vincere had the most convincing lead we’d seen so far in the Grand Finals series. A “Beyond Godlike” streak from XBOCT, at minute 25, seemed to be the last nail in VP’s coffin. They managed to last for 10 minute longer and called “GG”. Natus Vincere were able to bring the Grand Finals series into a 2:2 tie. The deciding fifth game is coming up next.
VOD UPDATE – Na’Vi vs. VP, game 3
UPDATE 21:42 CEST – The third game seemed equally one-sided for Virtus.Pro. VP drew first blood on Funn1k, who picked up a centry ward but ended up trading his life for it. Around 15 minutes into the game, VP were in the lead, dominating Na’Vi on all lanes. A fight at minute 20, right after Sonneiko had picked up his Blink Dagger, started to turn things around for Na’Vi. XBOCT actually told DotaBast after the game that he was just about to call “GG” before that particular fight, but decided to give the game another shot, at the last minute. After picking up his Blink Dagger, Sonneiko started to have a big impact in the game. His combos with Dendi and Funn1k led to Na’Vi’s victory. The Ukrainians managed to take the third game of the Grand Finals series and are now led by VP, 2:1. The fourth game is underway.
VOD UPDATE – Na’Vi vs. VP, game 2
UPDATE 20:24 CEST – Natus Vincere were yet again outdrafted by Virtus.Pro and completely shut down all throughout the second game of the Grand Finals series. A lot of action was going on right from the very beginning. Although Na’Vi made some decent trades early on, Virtus.Pro had a great early game, with very good rotations. Na’Vi had no fighting power in 5 vs. 5 fights, they were completely dominated and called “GG” at minute 30. Virtus.Pro are ahead, 2:0, Na’Vi are facing elimination. Game 3 is coming up next.
UPDATE 19:17 CEST – The first game of the DreamLeague Season 3 LAN Grand Finals series was heavily one-sided in Virtus.Pro’s favor. VP outplayed Natus Vincere in the early game and outdrafted them in the late game. Na’Vi started to lose racks early and were not able to recover. On top of that, they had no way to contest VP’s strength and deal with their Bristleback, who became invincible. Nightstalker and Shadow Shaman worked out very well for VP, as well. The game ended after 30 minutes, with a great siege by VP, and a 26:9 score. Virtus.Pro played a solid game, knew how to capitalize on Na’Vi’s uncharacteristic mistakes, and are ahead 1:0 in the best-of-five Grand Finals series. Second game is underway.
VOD UPDATE – VP vs. NiP, game 3
UPDATE 17:16 CEST – The early game was slow, slightly favoring the Swedes, who drew first blood. Virtus.Pro got greedy 10 minutes into the game and didn’t want to settle for a 1:1 trade. The following exchange favored NiP. Although Limmp was constantly being initiated on, VP’s Gyrocopter was an easy target at this point in the game. NiP were flat out stronger in team fights and managed to outplay VP until their first failed smoke gank, when they went for a smoke without having the Sonic Wave ulti ready and got team wiped by the CIS team. NiP took too many unnecessary risks and lost their lead again.
The game became “clowny” – as caster David “Luminous” Zhang put it, with plenty of aggressive engages ending up with back and forth exchanges. At minute 24, a two-man-gank next to the tier 2 tower favored NiP. Virtus.Pro showed some weakness. However, NiP weren’t able to capitalize on that, failing yet another smoke gank. Whenever they engaged in fights, NiP were limited by their lineup build up of abilities with high cool-down. VP won an unpredictable fight, four minutes later. At minute 41, NiP took down Sergey “God” Bragin and fng. VP took Roshan with Aegis and Cheese. The Swedes weren’t able to outlast them and called “GG”, four minutes later. Virtus.Pro take down NiP, 3:0, and advance into the Grand Finals, where they will face Natus Vincere, at 18:30 CEST.
VOD UPDATE – VP vs. NiP, game 2
UPDATE 16:06 CEST – The second game kicked off with an easy first blood for NiP in the very first couple of seconds. The early game was more dynamic, with a lot of back and forth exchanges. NiP were in the lead by a small margin, thanks to Jonas “jonassomfan” Lindholm’s rotations. The Swedes turned their mid game into a very gank-oriented one. However, Virtus.Pro were leading in the farm chart. At minute 9, NiP managed to take the tier one tower down, trading one support for four of VP’s heroes and gaining 2K networth. At minute 26, NiP team wiped VP and headed to Roshan. After another 4:3 trade in their favor, they started to pull ahead.
At minute 35, a chaotic fight with several buybacks and diebacks on NiP’s part went in VP’s favor and changed the faith of the game. With their BKB finished on fng’s Razer, VP took the lead and won another fight right outside the base. For a moment, it seemed like NiP were about to regroup, however, a base race from Virtus.Pro at minute 43 ended the game. NiP lost a game they were leading in under 1 minute and 30 seconds, at minute 35. In front of their home crowd, NiP face elimination. Virtus.Pro are ahead, 2:0. The third game of the series is up next.
VOD UPDATE – VP vs. NiP, game 1
UPDATE 14:50 CEST – Ninjas in Pyjamas were up to a good start and seemed to have a slight advantage during the early game. First blood came late, 6 minutes into the game, when Linus “Limmp” Blomdin took down Artsiom “fng” Barshack. NiP then picked up three kills off a haste rune, at minute 9. However, a 3:1 trade in VP’s favor, followed by a carnage on the top lane, made Virtus.Pro strong enough to take the lead. NiP’s lineup wasn’t suited to counter VP’s Bristleback. Centaur brought a lot of flexibility to Virtus.Pro’s lineup, and the CIS team ended up taking the first game of the series. Second game of the series is coming up next.
UPDATE 14:00 CEST – The Lower Bracket Finals between Virtus.Pro and Ninjas in Pyjamas – today’s first of two best-of-five series, is now underway.
