DreamLeague Season 3 LAN Day 1 recap
Basically Unknown 1:0 Burden United
The first match of the day was the best-of-one series between the two BU teams, Burden United and Basically Unknown. Between a very farmed Anti-Mage, who was able to split push, and Keeper of the Light repelling advances and pushes from Basically Unknown, Burden United was able to take the first game in the playoffs.
Na’Vi 1:0 Ninjas in Pyjamas
Na’Vi defeated NiP in the best-of-one series by dominating and controlling the game from the very beginning. Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev had some great clutch ultis in the game and Daniil “Dendi” Ishutin had a great game on Shadow Fiend (13-2-12). Both supports on Na’Vi had only 5K less gold than the highest gold hero on NiP, the Juggernaut played by Adrian “Era” Kryeziu.
Na’Vi 2:0 Burden United
Na’Vi took the first win of the best-of-three series versus Burden United in a quick 28 minute game. Na’Vi maintained control and patience this game instead of rushing and diving – a normal play-style for them, and it seems to have paid off for them. 20 minutes into the game, a four-man Vacuum into Wall of Replica by Gleb “Funn1k” Lipatnikov, followed by a Winter’s Curse coming out from SoNNeikO, was too much for Burden United to continue to defend and Na’Vi took down the barracks.
Na’Vi came out with a strong second game by Alexander “XBOCT” Dashkevich. Although the game started relatively even with back and forth exchanges, Burden United had a few favorable fights that seemed to give them a slight advantage. However, Na’Vi were able to grab control of the game a bit later. A four-for-one fight in Na’Vi’s favor allowed them to break high ground. Burden United didn’t manage to repel the Ukrainian. The game was over after 33 minutes.
Basically Unknown 0:2 Ninjas in Pyjamas
Ninjas in Pyjamas swept through Basically Unknown, 2:0, eliminating them from the tournament.
Ninjas in Pyjamas were able to secure the first win of the best-of-three series versus Basically Unknown. Although the game was mostly one-sided for NiP, Nikos “ReaLaxXx” Kiazolis’ Brood Mother was able to stall the game out for just under 60 minutes to give Basically Unknown a chance to try to turn the game. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t enough and ended up dropping the first game.
Basically Unknown started out doing well with a few kills for Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi. Despite some very good rotations and individual pick offs by Basically Unknown, a team wipe at minute 20 would start to give NiP the momentum and advantage they needed to win the game. The Io-BristleBack combo was too much for Unknown‘s lineup. The recently disbanded team has been eliminated from the tournament.
Burden United 0:2 Ninjas in Pyjamas
Ninjas in Pyjamas swept Burden United, 2:0, eliminating them from the tournament.
Ninjas in Pyjamas were able to claim the first game of the series versus Burden United. The game started fairly even with Burden having a slight advantage for most of the game. A fight at Roshan with NiP using both netherward and tombstone gave them the Aegis, the fight and the gold advantage they needed. NiP were able to turn the game, even though their lineup was geared more towards an early game, which was not as strong as it needed to be.
Ninjas in Pyjamas defeated Burden United in a very heavily one-sided second game that lasted for only 26 minutes, thanks mostly to Jonas “joanssomfan” Lindholm’s Legion Commander’s duel wins. Burden United has been eliminated from the DreamLeague Season 3 LAN playoffs and NiP will face Virtus.Pro next.
