G-Guard changes roster, welcomes four former TI players

G-Guard makes changes in their roster, releasing Chua “Ice” Chee Cai and Byron “Syeonix” Young Meng Keen and picking up Sim “Ling” Woi Cheong and Benjamin “Ben” Yi Cheong Lim. The new roster is comprised of four players from former TI participants. The roster adjustments come approximately two weeks after G-Guard announced new sponsorship deal.

G-Guard recent performance

G-Guard specifies that the change is brought about by the recent performances of the team. Since signing with Natit Gaming on March 18, the team has not met the organizations expectations. Natit Gaming was founded by Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong, when he left Titan during the post-TI4 reshuffle.

G-Guard lost in the eighth round of GEST SEA Cup versus Nvidia Aces, on March 23. Four days later, 27 they were unable to advance past the first group stage of StarLadder StarSeries XII, with a 2-1 record. The team lost to MVP.Phoenix and Signature.Trust, and won against Nvidia Aces. On March 28, G-Guard was eliminated from CORSAIR Gaming Arena in the first round, by RRQ.

G-Guard current roster

Sim “Ling” Woi Cheong was a member of G-Guard until February 22. He is an accomplished player in the SouthEast Asian scene, playing on Malaysian team MUFC between 2011-2013. Afterwards, he joined WinterR and YamateH on Orange Esports for a few months, between 2013-2014.

Wai Pern “Net” Lim was a parts of Orange Esports, Titan and Team Malaysia. Net competed in TI4 as a member of Titan and then founded team Natit.

Chan “WinteR” Litt Binn was on Orange Esports’ roster from 2011-2012, participating in TI2 as part of the team. He has multiple notable achievements while a member of Orange Esports and MUFC.

Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong competed in T12 as part of team Orange Esports. He later played for Zenith and then moved to Titan in 2014, being Net’s teammate during TI4.

Benjamin “Ben” Yi Cheong Lim is a relatively new player. He made his first appearance with Natit Gaming, where he played until February.

Coming up for G-Guard

G-Guard qualified for MPGL SEA, a $50,000 tournament sponsored by Mineski Gaming League, to be held in Malaysia during May.
