Boston Major Qualifiers format
The Boston Major Qualifiers format has been adjusted compared to previous Majors. This season, teams will be pitted against each other in a single group, instead of divided into two groups. Another significant change, teams will face each other in a best-of-one round robin. The top four teams in the group stage will advance to a best-of-three GSL-style playoffs bracket. Two teams per region will qualify for the Boston Major. Thus, there will be two phases to the Boston Major Qualifiers format: group stage and playoffs.
Boston Major Qualifiers group stage
- Only one group per region
- Round-Robin
- Best-of-one matches
- 1 point for wins
- 0 points for loss
- Teams placed 1st-4th advance into playoffs
Tiebreakers: Teams tied for 4th place in the group will play a tiebreaker match. If teams are tied for other places in the group, the winner will be determined based on head-to-head results.

Boston Major Qualifiers Americas contenders
compLexity Gaming (invited to the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers)
For most of The International 6 regional qualifiers, coL looked confident, consistent and composed. Had they not dropped a game to FDL during the Round Robin stage, they would have been the first team to qualify for the main event in the Americas region. Unfortunately, they were left with a Wild Card spot and, once in Seattle, they failed to advance to the group stage and main event.
Following TI6, The compLexity Gaming 2017 roster brought three new faces to the organization. David “Moo” Hull, Justin “jk” Rosselle and Antonio “canceL^^” Mihai joined core members Kyle “melonzz” Freedman and Zakari “Zfreek” Freedman.

Team NP (invited to the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers)
On September 9th Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao revealed his new lineup and brand – Team NP.
Earlier, EternaLEnVy had indicated he planned to make a new team, comprised of players not necessarily as known and made more with those he enjoyed playing with than stars. The new line-up still boasts known and respected players from across the region with big plans to become a top team.

FDL (invited to the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers)
Friendship, Dedication, Love, also known as FDL, was originally created to compete in the open qualifiers for the The Shanghai Major. A new roster featuring Alder “Beesa” Beano, Michael “MJW” Nguyen and Stanley “Stan King” Yang competed in the open qualifiers for The Manila Major. They qualified for the regional event -ultimately finishing 4th in the Americas Qualifier.
On September 4th – Eric “747” Dong and Terry “04” Wong joined the team, replacing Quinn “CC&C” Callahan and Wilson “Fronz” Teng.
FDL just recently qualified to attend the Northern Arena BEAT invitational.

Infamous (invited to the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers)
Infamous is a Peruvian Dota 2 team that was formed by the former members of Unknown.xiu. The Peruvian team was the first South-American to ever qualify for an event organized by Valve when they managed to move forward into the Americas qualifiers from the Open Qualifiers and grab one of the two available spots for the Frankfurt Major. The team finished with a 9-12th place.
Since then Jesus “Ztok” Carhuaricra has become the coach of the team. Due to his involvement in match-fixing, Ztok was deemed ineligible to register for any Manila Major and TI6 rosters and has been banned from participating in any Valve tournaments for at least the time being.
The team took on Renato “Kingteka” Garcia and Benjamin “Benjaz” Lanao Barrios in July 2016 and most recently won WESG Americas LAN finals.

Kingao+4(invited to the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers)
Formerly known as paiN Gaming, the current roster was finalized in June 2016. The team had several top four finishes in minor regional tournaments but failed to clinch any larger achievements. In October the squad parted ways with the organization.
Kingao+4 grabbed the Brasil Cup championship title recently – their third title for the Brazilian event.

Prodota Gaming (Winners the Americas Boston Major Qualifiers #1)
Prodota Gaming has participated in the monthly competitions since the beginning. They seized their first championship title in PD Cup 3, followed by a second place finish in PD Cup 4.
The organization has recently branched off of their original CIS project and switched gears into being a European extension. Since transitioning into a full European team, Prodota Gaming has been climbing their way back to success.
At the end of June, just in time for the TI6 open qualifiers Prodota Gaming underwent a full overhaul of their roster to be centered around carry player Ylli “Garter” Ramadani. Several roster changes resulted in recruiting Linus “Kefka” Bleckert and Malthe “Biver” Winther at the end of July. Alexandru “ComeWithMe” Craciunescu and Jure “Pingvincek” Plešej stepped in for the squad two weeks later and the squad has enjoyed considerable success.
After much uncertainty surrounding the upcoming Fall Major 2016 season, the Prodota Gaming roster was secured. When Armand “bOne7” Pittner missed the drop deadline by mere hours ComeWithMe had been locked into Kaipi, instead of ProDota Gaming. Valve took action and settled team registration issues. The team was able to finalize their roster officially with their core lineup of players.
