Imperial sign Danish Bears

Imperial expands into Dota 2 by picking up Danish Bears. The notable Dota 2 squad has enjoyed much popularity and a strong presence over the course of the last year. The Danes will join the organization’s ranks alongside their all Danish CS:GO squad.

Imperial has expanded their organization to include Dota 2 by signing the all Danish squad – Danish Bears.

The “CIS Slayers” – as they have been nicknamed, has maintained a very strong presence in the region and been one of the more stable teams over the last year.

They most recently advanced to the Grand Finals of the TI6 EU Open Qualifiers 1, but were wiped out 2:0 by Team Secret. Their second run in the TI6 EU Open Qualifiers came to an early end when they were knocked out in Round of 64 by a mixed stack.

We’re happy to find a place to call home! Danish Bears, CIS Slayers, what ever you call us – now we are proud to be The Imperial EU ! It will be a new chapter for our team and we’re looking forward to fighting under a new banner

The Danish squad will display the Imperial banner in the Prodota Cup vs Broodmothers at 19:00 CEST, tomorrow June 25th.

The organisation was formed in 2007 and was originally a console based team which housed some of the best teams in Europe across several games including Call of Duty, Gears of War and FIFA. In 2008 the organization expanded into PC division, adding the Mousetek Team Fortress 2 squad.

The following year Imperial made a big breakthrough with much success in their new CS:GO division. However the organization closed down in 2011.

Imperial have made a return to esports signing a Danish CS:GO squad earlier in 2016 and now with their Danish Dota 2 team.

The Danish Bears members have been playing together since the inception of the team in August 2015, with the exception of Jure “Pingvincek” Plešej, who joined the squad in February.

The mostly Danish squad has had a very strong presence in the regional scene, participating in almost every minor tournament and qualifier. They have typically been able to place in the first three positions.

Then, earlier in June, the team parted ways with their only non-Danish player, Pingvincek, and rounded out the roster with Jon “13abyKnight” Andersen.

Danish Bears have since taken 2nd place at the WellPlay Invitational #2.
