Kaipi clinched the WellPlay Invitational 2 title, after their 3:2 victory over Danish Bears in the tournament’s online Grand Finals. Armand “bOne7” Pittner’s team won the fifth game of the series after a spectacular Base Race, showing promise for The International 6 Open Qualifiers set to begin on June 21st.
The two teams had faced each other in the tournament’s Upper Bracket Finals, on June 7th. Kaipi took the series, 2:1, sending Danish Bears into the Lower Bracket Finals, where they swept Polarity, 2:0, to advance into the Grand Finals and go up against bOne7&co. once again.
Kaipi lost one of their support players, Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg, to Evil Geniuses, on June 13th. Amid speculation that they were about to sign former EG player Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling, Kaipi sought out ProDotA Gaming player Neta “thecoon” Shapira as zai’s replacement. The Israeli player will join bOne7, SingSing, ComeWithMe and SexyBamboe on bootcamp, on June 16th. The team is expected to register for the upcoming TI6 Open Qualifiers, alongside the likes of Team Secret, Polarity, Team Spirit, and ProDotA Gaming.
