Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi was welcomed back on team Basically Unknown less than 48 hours after he was kicked from the squad for recent drama and multiple Internet connection issues. After a team meeting with the manager, Gustav “Panda<3" Hansson, the players reached out to Ar1sE to discuss the issue further and offered him a place back on the team.
As previously reported, shortly before the start of Basically Unknown’s match versus Flipsid3Tactics in the main event of EIZO Cup #15, Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi tweeted a clip of a team fight which was carried during a scrim between Basically Unknown and Cloud9. The tweet prompted a strong reaction from Cloud9’s captain, Jacky “Eternal Envy” Mao, who called Ar1sE “stupid”. Basically Unknown lost against Flipsid3Tactics in EIZO Cup, due to the Romanian player’s constant Internet connection issues. In the middle of the unrolling drama, Basically Unknown’s captain, Ivan “MinD_ContRoll” Borislavov, announced that the team was letting Ar1sE go. The Romanian player claims he found out about the news on Twitter.
Basically Unknown’s manager, Gustav “Panda<3" Hansson, pondered the matter further and decided to give Ar1sE a second chance. Panda<3 claims that he spoke to Cloud9’s manager and apologized to the entire team, adding that Basically Unknown’s captain, MinD_ContRoL, had announced cutting out Ar1sE "in the heat of the moment, without communicating with the other team members first". According to Basically Unknown’s official statement:
We sat down as a team and talked about it, everyone shared their thoughts and decided that we want to give Ar1sE another chance under the condition that things will be handled professionally in the future. Ar1sE agreed to this. He is aware that he made a mistake by uploading the video and by not keeping his public communication calm in a matter that affects the whole team. We are confident that everyone involved learnt their lesson and that we can focus on playing Dota from now on.
Basically Unknown’s complete roster is once again: captain Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Borislavov, Nikolay “Stomanen1” Kalchev, Petur “Pure Evil!” Petrov, Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and Ionuț “Ar1sE” Turtoi. They are currently playing in StarLadder Series 12 and are expected to take part in various upcoming tournaments with the hopes of qualifying for The International 5.
