Swiss Dota Community announces 2 Leagues

Swiss Dota Community announced two leagues with a combined prize pool of more than 15,000 CHF (approximately $15,175) for two seasons. As part of the continued effort to promote and enhance the local esports scene, one match from either league will be broadcast weekly on the Swiss national television station “Joiz”.

The Swiss Dota Community, the organizers of last year’s Mountain Trail Challenge, has announced the introduction of two Swiss Dota 2 Leagues. The leagues will take place over the course of two seasons with a combined prize pool of more than 15,000 CHF (approximately $15,175). Each season will last for five months.

Dota Swiss Community is trying to change the perception of Esports and help it grow as an upcoming sport. We are very happy that people notice our effort to make E-Sport in Switzerland a bigger thing. In Switzerland gaming is seen by most people as a free-time activity and less as a sport. To join this league means players invest a lot of time in Dota 2 and we’re very happy that so many good teams want to go on this exciting journey with us.

Two leagues will overlap during the first season. The first league is an exclusive league featuring six invited teams that have at least a majority of Swiss players on their rosters, and six others that have qualified last weekend. This exclusive league will begin on April 25. Teams will be competing for the 7,500 CHF prize pool (approximately $7,587).

The second league is open to all teams with at least three Swiss citizens on the team and will begin next week, on March 25th. Three teams will qualify to participate in the exclusive league next season. The top three teams will also be awarded non cash prizes to be announced at a later date.

Part of the aim of the development of these leagues is to bring about a stronger community and more exposure to the growing esports scene. In an effort to draw more public attention to the popularity and potential of esports, Swiss Dota Community has partnered up with the Swiss TV station “Joiz” to broadcast league matches weekly. This will be the first time that esports is aired on Swiss National television.

To work with Joiz is a great possibility for all of us.

Mountain Trail Challenge 2015

Last April, Swiss DotA community announced a new online tournament featuring 16 European teams competing for a prize-pool of 5,000 EUR. The tournament began on May 2nd and concluded on May 24th with a best-of-five grand finals.

The tournament consisted of four groups with four teams each. The top two teams of each group advanced to the best-of-three double elimination playoffs.

Vega Squadron emerged as champions after defeating Power Rangers, 3:1, in the Grand Finals.

Base Prize Pool: €5,000

1st place: Vega Squadron (€3,000+)
2nd place: Power Rangers (€1,500+)
3rd place: London Conspiracy (€500+)
