The Nanyang LAN group stage has come to an end. Southeast Asia was left with no representatives in the region’s biggest LAN event, as both Fnatic and Mineski were eliminated in the group stages. The rest of the teams have advanced into the playoffs. The action will resume tomorrow, October 28th, at 05:00 CET, when Virtus.Pro will go up against Team Secret, in the Upper Brackets.
The Nanyang LAN started out with a Round Robin group stage. The ten teams were split up into two groups of five and have faced each other in two-game series.
Based on the number of points accrued during the group stage (three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss), the top two teams in both groups will be seeded into the Upper Brackets of the playoff stage, while the teams placed third and fourth will begin the playoffs in the Lower Brackets. The last place team in each group has been eliminated.

Virtus.Pro and ViCi Gaming finished the group stage at the top of Group A and will start the Nanyang playoffs in the Upper Bracket, while Team Liquid and CDEC Gaming will be seeded into the Lower Bracket.
ViCi Gaming and Team Liquid finished the group stage with one win and three draws each, and were forced to play a tiebreaker in order to determine the seeding for the playoffs stage.
Mineski – who have been showing great promise lately, after upsetting Fnatic to claim the first Frankfurt Major spot for the SEA region – failed to make it through to the Nanyang LAN playoffs, and finished last in Group A, with one draw, three losses and only one point.
EHOME and Team Secret have advanced into the playoffs’ Upper Brackets from the first two places in Group B, while LGD Gaming and Digital Chaos will start the next stage of the Nanyang LAN in the Lower Brackets.
Fnatic were eliminated in the group stages, with a disappointing record of two draws, two losses and two points.

The playoffs stage will be played in a double elimination bracket format. The first two rounds of the Lower Brackets will be brutal best-of-one series and all the other matches, apart from the Grand Finals, will be best-of-three series. The Grand Finals will be played as best-of-five series with no Upper Bracket advantage.

- Virtus.Pro vs. Team Secret – October 28th, 12:00 SGT (05:00 CET)
The Nanyang LAN is the third LAN event in less than a month for both Virtus.Pro and Team Secret.
Virtus.Pro were one of the few teams to keep their rosters intact at the height of the post-TI5 reshuffle period, but have had a rather lackluster start to the new season. They have struggled to progress further than the quarterfinals in the last two LAN events, coming in 7th place at ESL One New York and 5th at the MGL World Finals.
Team Secret, on the other hand, have had steady performances recently. They finished second in their LAN debut, at ESL One New York, and managed to seize the MLG World Finals championship title.
Although Team Secret might seem to have the upper hand, Virtus.Pro have shown more promise during the Nanyang LAN group stage.
- EHOME vs. ViCi Gaming – October 28th, 16:00 SGT (09:00 CET)
The new EHOME roster has been turning heads and making waves in the Chinese region. They were forced to pull out of the ESL One New York LAN due to visa issues, so they haven’t had the chance to demonstrate their full strength in a LAN setting, before the Nanyang LAN. They finished the group stage at the top of Group B, with two wins, two draws and eight points and they managed to upset their former captain Fan “rOtk” Bai’s new team, LGD Gaming, 2:0.
ViCi Gaming have also made their LAN debut at the Nanyang Championships, with Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei on the roster. However, their performances so far have lacked the expected shine. They managed to secure one win against Mineski, three draws (against CDEC, Virtus.Pro and Team Liquid) and they bested Team Liquid, 1:0, in a tiebreaker meant to determine the playoffs seeding.
- Team Liquid vs. Digital Chaos – October 28th, 20:00 SGT (13:00 CET)
Digital Chaos and Team Liquid will start the playoffs with a brutal best-of-one elimination series. Although both teams have had noticeable online presences so far, they have been struggling to attain top positions, and they both failed to qualify for the Frankfurt Major.
